The Rise of Reorganisational Healing
27/05/2009
A concept in holistically understanding healing, personal growth and wellness is gaining ground. This new concept is known as Reorganizational Healing and according to one of its advocates, Dr.
Donald Epstein, it offers a map to “self-assess and draw on strengths to create sustainable change."
One simple way to understand what Reorganizational Healing is to see it as a way to help a person move to a state that is better or more organized then before they became symptomatic. In fact someone can benefit from Reorganizational Healing even if they do not currently have any symptoms of illness.
Three doctors, Dr. Donald Epstein, Dr. Daniel Lemberger and Simon Senzon jointly wrote an article entitled: "Reorganizational Healing: A Paradigm for the Advancement of Wellness, Behaviour Change, Holistic Practice, and Healing," that fully explains their concept.
There are three principle pillars to Reorganizational Healing according to the concept designers and they have given them very poetic names. They are the Five Energetic Intelligences, the Four Seasons of Well-Being and the Triad of Change. By engaging in these three aspects of the person, the authors say that "Instead of being meaningless, people's problems become diseases of meaning…helping them become stronger, to live more fully and with more understanding."
From the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, the Editor-in-Chief Dr. Kim A. Jobst said "There can be no doubt that we are witnessing the birth of a powerful method of healing, grounded in rigorous scientific fact, that will become integral to future systems of healthcare. This is a manuscript that deserves study in all teaching and therapeutic institutions."
Jobst further went on to say that "When individuals understand the relationship between their disease symptoms and their lifestyle choices, and most importantly are willing to take the steps needed for sustainable behaviour change, they can achieve healthier, more fulfilling and more meaningful lives."
From the Affiliated Faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Professor Robert Blanks said that ROH was "a health change model whose time has come," and that it "presents a viable big-picture option for improving the health of individuals and addressing the current health care crisis in the United States and worldwide."
